Musk, the owner of X, has been in hot water recently due to a series of comments called antisemitic by various organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the White House.
The organizations emphasized the importance of ensuring that Jewish students "feel safe and free from harassment," and discrimination on campus.
Moreover, the ADL observed a near-1,000% surge in violent messages mentioning Jews and Israel on Telegram post the Hamas attack.
Spanning from October 7-10, the ACMS painstakingly documented a concerning 157,000 posts exuding antisemitic sentiments.
One of the voicemails stated: “I can’t wait to graduate as a Nazi, I am ready for you mother*******. Cut your head off…I will kill you mother******* with pleasure.”
The ADL's decision to return to advertising on X comes in the wake of heightened scrutiny over antisemitism and extremist content proliferating on the platform.
The latest FBI statistics revealed 101 reported hate crimes in 2020, targeting various communities, marking an 80% increase from 2020.
Ben Brody was enjoying a baseball game when conspiracy theorists online suggested he was involved in a neo-Nazi brawl hundreds of miles away. He and his lawyer say that Elon Musk slandered him, too.
“We have watched in horror as a new stage in antisemitic discourse has spread like wildfire on one of America’s largest social media networks.”
The meeting is likely to raise eyebrows as Musk is under fire for lax company policies which allow for the dissemination of antisemitism on the platform.
